1) Question: What grades do I teach? Answer: I teach classes from all grades (K-5).
2) Question: Who are the music teachers at OES? Answer: Tiffany Parron, Richard Scott, and Carol Davis.
3) Question: How does a student earn their grade? Answer: A student is given a grade of E (Excellent), S (Satisfactory), N (Needs Improvement), and U (Unsatisfactory). A student's grade is determined by averaging their written work, performance grades, and participation grades.
4) Question: Can I student earn extra credit? Answer: A child is given opportunities in class to earn extra points that is applied to their overall grade.
5) Question: What local music stores are available to purchase music and instruments? Answer: Summerville Guitar Center, Guitar Music Center, & Fox Music.
6) Question: Where is my classroom located? Answer: My classroom is located in the 2nd Portable building (#16) behind the cafeteria.
7) Question: I have a child in 4th or 5th grade, where can I get a recorder? Answer: You can order and pay for a recorder through the school by the deadline. Also, you can purchase one through a local music store. Some of the closer music stores are: Summerville Music Center, Main Street Music, McFayden’s Music, Guitar Music Center, and Fox Music.
8) Question: Do any classes perform for the PTA meetings? Answer: Yes, there is a concert given for every grade at the PTA meetings. Also, the Oakbrook Singers perform at every meeting.
9) Question: Who are the Oakbrook Singers? Answer: The members of this chorus is selected through an audition process at the beginning of the school year in August. This year-long ensemble meets 1-2 times a week after-school. The chorus perform different styles of music using a variety of instruments.
10) Question: How often do I teach your child? Answer: I have 3 sets (rotations) of k-5 classes that come to me 5 days in a row. I teach each class (homeroom) every 3 weeks. |
