It’s great to be a part of the pack again!  This is my first year at OES as a teacher!  I was here the first year OES opened twenty years ago as a fifth grade student!  After graduating from Fort Dorchester High School, I went to Charleston Southern University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  During my last year at CSU I completed student teaching at OES in third grade!  Since then, I have taught middle school and fourth grade before returning to OES this year.  I have also earned my Master’s in Education from Columbia College.

My husband and I live in North Charleston and have been married for seven years.  He is a musician and loves to spend his time playing his guitar, harmonica, and singing in his group.  We have a son who was born in May of 2007.  We love to spend time together as a family traveling, playing disc golf, camping, watching baseball, and going to concerts!

I teach three fourth grade reading classes grade level, differentiated, and fluency.  It’s hard to believe that I love being a reading teacher since I wasn’t a very good reader when I was in  the fourth grade.  I had to learn to love reading.  Because of that it is my goal to guide my readers to become good at reading so they can learn to love reading also.  My lessons are skill driven which means I teach students skills and strategies to use when reading.  This will help them increase their reading comprehension level which will allow them to read anything they want to read!
