Below are some of the artworks that have been created this year by my students.  Their work is UNBELIEVABLE!  The works are listed by grade level with a description of the assignment.  The student’s name that created each piece is under their artwork.

5th Grade Contour Drawings of Their Own Shoe

Students studied the element of design, line, and drew a contour drawing of their shoe.  They used measurements to get the correct measurements for their various colors around their shoes.

4th Grade Linear Landscapes

Students studied the artist, Vincent Van Gogh, and drew a linear landscape in the style of Van Gogh.  They focused on the three grounds of landscape  paintings; foreground, middle ground, and background.

3rd Grade Jungle Paintings

Students studied the artist, Henri Rousseau and his jungle paintings.  They focused on the three grounds of landscape  paintings; foreground, middle ground, and background and overlapping of objects.

2nd Grade Self Portraits Showing Action

Second graders studied the artist, Edgar Degas, and how he loved to paint the human figure in motion.  Students learned the correct human body proportions and drew their selves in motion.

1st Grade Henri Matisse Paper Cutouts

First graders studied the artist, Henri Matisse, and how he used geometric and organic shapes in his paper cutout collages.  Students learned about geometric and organic shapes and created a collage in the style of Matisse’s  “Beasts of the Sea” paper cutout.

Kindergarten Spookiley Pumpkin Patches

Kindergarten  students learned about geometric and organic shapes and created a “Spookiley” pumpkin patch in reference to the book, Spookiley, The Square Pumpkin.  The students practiced drawing geometric shapes and cutting them out to make their pumpkin patches.
