Consequences & Rewards
Consequences:
Each child will start each day with no sticks in his/her pocket. If a child chooses not to follow the PAWS expectations, he/she will first receive a verbal warning, followed by the consequences listed below. Please understand that some behaviors will result in a stick without a verbal warning. The color of the stick will correspond with the rule broken.
0 sticks=great behavior! 3 sticks=walk 10 min. recess
1 stick=warning 4 sticks=walk 15 min. recess
2 sticks=walk 5 min. recess 5 sticks=note, phone call, or
or time out office visit
****SEVERE CASE is immediate referral to the office****
Rewards:
It is important that your child is recognized for his/her good behavior. The students are divided into table groups and can earn tally marks for doing the right thing. The table group with the most points earns a reward. Also, if your child receives no sticks for the week, he/she will also get a reward at the end of the week.
Rewards: Your child can earn stickers for great behavior and/or the PAWS red stickers daily!
1. Verbal praise 2. Stickers, stamps, or pencils
3. Good notes 4. Free choice time
We will spend a great deal of time during the first few weeks of school learning what these rules mean and how to follow them. You can reinforce this at home by discussing the PAWS expectations with your child and establishing consequences at home when classroom rules are not followed.
